The Song in our Hearts

I love Christmas carols. I love listening to them in the car or when I’m cleaning the house. Anytime really. They put a smile on my face and a spring in my step. There is a danger, however, when we hear them so often. We can sometimes forget the meaning behind the words. We can enjoy the music, but forget the message.

Silent night. Holy night. Let’s not forget the hush of awe that night holds for us. Our Lord and God came to earth as a mere babe. He experienced the pain and ugliness of life for us. He wept for us. He gave us hope when we had none.

Let our praise for our Lord be the song that sings in our hearts – not just in this season, but always.

May you all have a blessed Christmas.

What’s your favourite Christmas Carol?

I think my favorite is "The Hallelujah Chorus" - (have you seen the YouTube video of it being sung in a food court in America - pretty awesome). This song never ceases to give me goosebumps and bring me to tears. I love the tradition that many follow - they stand when it's sung. Like a great, grand anthem to the King of kings and Lord of lords!

My second favorite is "O Holy Night" - I just love the music. Especially the crescendo of the chorus.

We have a truly wonderful Savior, who came to bring this dark and fallen world, LIGHT and LIFE.

Have a very Merry Christmas, and GOD BLESS!

Absolutely. Good post. I think my fave songs is O Holy Night. Very dramatic and powerful and passionate, Oooo! So I'm ditto-ing Sharon, here, I guess. Love the Hallelujah Chorus too!

I have two favorites really.
The first is Away In A Manager
because I remember singing it
to my mother while she cooked
dinner during the Christmas
holidays and she would cry.
Also, obviously, the lyrics
are wonderful. The second would
have to be O Come, O Come,
Emmanuel due to the strong and
powerful lyrics and melody.
It me those two songs capture
Christmas and His birth and
inheritance for us, His people.
Hope you and yours have a very
Merry Christmas and a Happy
New Year!
Blessings,
Sandy

I think the "Hallelujah Chorus" is my very favorite. Possibly because I sang it with a city choir one year many years ago and that memory has been with me all these years. I love all the Christmas carols! May you have a wonderful Christmas and a joyous New Year!

Joy to the World and the Hallelujah Chorus are my favourites, but when I was little, it was O Come, All Ye Faithful, which I thought ran: "Oh come, aw-ye-faaaaay-full'. Apparently it wasn't strange to me that it didn't make sense!

Merry Christmas!

Tough choice. I'd say, "I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day."

And in despair I bowed my head
"There is no peace on earth," I said...Then pealed the bells more loud and deep...God is not dead, nor doth He sleep...
