Not Your Own Understanding

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.
Proverbs 3:5-6 (NIV)

A few years ago I considered going to Bible College. What I didn’t expect was the number of doors that closed in front of me. God’s message was very clear. He said, “No.”

I was so surprised. Surely He wanted me to learn as much as I could about Him and His word. Bible College seemed like the obvious answer.

I still don’t know why I wasn’t meant to go. I can speculate. It would have led me into a different direction for my life.

But often what we think is right for our lives may not be right. There is so much we don’t know, can’t know. God, however, knows everything. He knows what is best. He will show us the right way, the best way.

All He asks is that we trust Him.

This verse will always have
great significance in my life
because it was the first real
word I received from the Lord
after I asked Jesus into my
heart. The Lord has shown me
the truth of it time and time
again.
Blessings,
Sandy

Amen! My understanding has gotten me into bad spots more times than I would like to remember...

This was one of my granddaddy's favorite scriptures...he was living proof to me that if one lives by this promise...it will surely come to past....

Wow. Your site is the site for scriptures that hit you between the eyes huh. I am learning to trust. And stepping out bit by bit. In my quiet time with God this week, that is exactly the scripture he gave me. Fancy that! Thanks for your post.

when doors close...sometimes it's hard to understand why...but one thing is for sure...He knows the ways we need to take that will honor Him the most. Have a great day.

Many doors we may not understand why they are shut and remain. Only He knows the big picture. Hard to grasp sometimes because we want something so bad and we think it will be just right....... but.....

As long as we are sure of God's direction, and don't just give up because things are a bit difficult...

God's way, not our way.

I we aren't trusting God then we are trusting ourselves, others, or no one, and those are not the most reliable sources to trust all of the time.

Lee, yes, that's right. God is the only one who can be trusted ALL of the time.

I think it's amazing that you clearly heard His voice concerning His will for your life. A lot of people aren't listening, and just plunge ahead. I'm sure God has some very special plans for you, can't wait to see what it is!
