Being Led

When I was young I used to have big plans about all the things I was going to do with my life. I was going to be a great artist, a world traveller, a famous writer, an adventurer, a movie star, an animator, a dancer, a singer and I was never going to get married. Some things came to pass, others did not, and there are still others yet to come.

Did I plan even half the things that happened in my life? No. God had better plans for me. I am married to the most wonderful man in the world. I couldn’t have dreamed up a better man. He is good for me in ways I could never have written on a shopping list for the “perfect man”. He taught me to trust, and to love, and to be myself.

I never dreamed I would end up leading youth groups or fellowships, or even the elders of the church. But I did. I never dreamed I would grow such a passion for my Lord. But I did.

He leads me in ways that are both scary and exciting. He takes me down roads I would never have walked on my own. He carried me through darkness and safely delivered me into His Light.

I can’t imagine what tomorrow will bring, but knowing my hand rests in His, I will gladly walk with Him wherever He will lead me.

Where has the Lord led you?

Like you, I planned some things, and then God had other plans for the rest.

Alex, it's cool isn't it. We can still make plans, but knowing He is there guiding us in the right direction gives me courage and joy.

I still have plans and I believe the Lord continues to lead me. The difference between now and when I was younger is that now I listen more. In the past I didn't always go where I think God was trying to lead me, but he always was there to watch over me and keep me safe. Praise God for that!

Arlee, yep, I'm sure I made the mistake of not listening to God many times. But like you said, He is still there, watching over us.

I agree that I could not have planned my life. God did a much better job than I ever dreamed of.

I found out the hard way that
life is so much better if we
surrender it all to Him. He
always knows what's best for
us and all His plans and purposes
for us are so good.
Hugs,
Sandy

Sandy, It's not always easy to surrender everything...but you are right. It is so much better when we do.

Amen...there is a marked difference between the times in my life when I walked in His footsteps...and the times I stepped out on my own....

It's a wonderful thing when you're living within God's will and following His leading, were ever He might lead. I've got of on to many side roads in the past and they ain't no fun!

Love it. So true. We can't imagine what God has in store for us. I would have laughed if anyone would say I'd be where I am.

And like you say ... there's more to come:)

Awesome.
